J’adore the Paris Flea

As I’ve mentioned before, The Boy and I recently spent a week in Paris, which we tried to fill with a balanced mix of typical-touristy attractions (highly stressful) as well as more off-beat, quirky destinations (a much better idea, if you ask me). One of the more “off-the-beaten-path” sights was the Saint-Ouen Market, the biggest outdoor flea market in the world. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love.

How perfect are those walking sticks? I kid you not the only reason I didn’t buy one was because I couldn’t justify separating one from the set. And I don’t need a walking stick, you say? Oh yeah, sure, fine…

The market is huge, I’m sure we saw only a fraction of everything it had to offer. But you can literally find ANYTHING there, from miscellaneous glass bottle stoppers…

…to obscene keychains…

…creepy dolls…

and um…. not sure what exactly these are but I want one

Some more cool things I found:

And pretty much the sweetest wardrobe I have ever seen. The Boy and I actually considered for a (very brief) minute how exactly we could fit such a thing into our (already embarrassingly over-packed) luggage.

What’s that you say? Is that actual fungi on that dresser? Why yes, yes it is. Take a closer look. The Boy just about died.

Suffice to say we had a great time poking around, even if we couldn’t actually buy anything. But if I could ever actually furnish a home from this market… oh man, I think I would die in ecstasy. So many pretty things! If you’re in Paris or planning a trip, I highly recommend checking out the St. Ouen Market. It’s a little tricky getting there, so I also suggest checking out these excellent directions from Oh Happy Day!
